ABF3CH : Universal DC motor controller

ABF3CH is an innovative and versatile 3-channel 24VDC-motor control device that is specifically designed to control various motorized setups, including wind-shields, jalousies, screens, blinds, motorized windows, and other similar configurations. Unlike a standard 230VAC blinder, controlling a DC motor through polarization reversal is more complicated, and it requires a fail-safe and fool-proof device to ensure safety and prevent dangerous situations.

Our module is carefully engineered to provide a no-power state, which guarantees that a short circuit situation can never occur. This is particularly essential as a low-voltage DC configuration can develop high currents in case of malfunction, which can result in fire hazards and disastrous consequences. With ABF3CH, you can be confident that you have a safe and reliable device that is easy to use and understand.

The ABF3CH device is highly versatile and can be used with various brands of home automation systems, and blind control switches. Its unique LTP or "last takes precedence" principle ensures that there are no contradictory commands interacting at the same time, making it easy to control multiple setups simultaneously.

In addition to its motor control capabilities, the ABF3CH device can also provide a small amount of power of various voltages to power a limited set of home automation devices. This means that you can use it to power your blind control module, weather station, and even a nice glass panel button switch with an OLED display without the need for a dedicated power supply. It's important to note that you can specify the need for this auxiliary power if required, as there's no need to foresee all the voltages if they're not going to be used, which can lead to unnecessary energy wastage.

In summary, the ABF3CH device is a reliable, safe, and versatile motor control device that can be used with various setups. With its unique features and fail-safe mechanism, it guarantees a safe and easy-to-use solution that is perfect for both residential and commercial applications.

Features

  • Push-on connectors for tool less installation
  • Inspection / measurement universal meter access on every connector
  • Built-in security to avoid simultaneous up and down commands (FTP principle)
  • Manual control can use standard blinder switches as well as just push buttons to pilot the motor actions (tensionless)
  • Home automation blinder modules or standard relays can be used to pilot the motor actions (tensionless)
  • Individual motor channel automatically resettable short-circuit protection
  • Multi-voltage output for home automation small number of modules direct connection, avoiding an extra power supply
  • Direct connection to the Velbus home automation VMBRAIL to power-feed a limited number of Velbus modules
  • Easy installation snap fit 6-unit DIN-rail module housing
  • the module protects each channel against contradictory commands
  • it is allowed to bypass channel commands from the home automation with manual push-buttons put in parallel
  • it is allowed to parallel the commands, as long as the "common" lines are taken together

Troubleshooting

As we´re dealing with a module which connects to several external components, it is important to clearly identify which part doesn´t perform as expected and do a proper root cause analysis.

In order to help in making the right diagnosis, you´ll find herewith a flowchart diagram which should be followed in sequence and without skipping parts of it. This will not only shorten the problem solving, but also pinpoint very rapidly into the right direction to find the root cause of the problem.

You only need a standard Multimeter (preferably a digital one) or a voltage tester which has the suitable range indications to perform the tests. It should be able to measure 230VAC and 24VDC as well as 18VDC, 15VDC and 12VDC.
