Home automation offers convenience, increased energy efficiency, improved security, and remote access and control of various devices in the home.
With our home automation solution, you can control all functions from a single app or interface, leading to cost savings on energy bills.
Additionally, the system includes integrated alarm functionality and monitoring capabilities for improved security, and remote access can be beneficial if you travel frequently or want to keep an eye on your home while away. Furthermore, home automation can increase the value of your home on the market.
Although the connection diagram is available, the connections to S8 and S5 are not yet clear, and we are waiting for a proper explanation from Daikin. However, this does not affect the normal functioning of the system.
The temperature alarms are utilized to set the Heating/Cooling mode and the fan speed.
Depending on the difference between the actual temperature and the target temperature, the fan speed is adjusted from Low, to Medium or High.
The top row of this model contains flow indicators, while the bottom row features manual regulator knobs that we replace with valve actuators. For each control valve, we mount a valve actuator that is activated by a Velbus relay.
It's important to keep at least one heating circuit open, known as the bypass circuit, usually the bathroom circuit, to prevent the circulation pump from getting overloaded and the HVAC system from functioning abnormally.
To set the temperature of the HVAC system, we recommend setting it to the highest temperature that is ever required, usually the bathroom required temperature.
The actuators are activated with a Velbus relay based on the temperature measured by the respective glass panel's built-in sensor, eliminating the need for a thermostat.
To optimize the number of Velbus relay contacts, it's possible to put all actuators of the same room circuits on the same relay contact.
It's important to note that floor heating systems have a large hysteresis curve due to the low operating temperature and floor mass, which is why it's crucial to adjust the operating hours for Day, Comfort, and Night hours.
Fortunately, the Velbus settings are perfectly equipped to handle this.
The system can be easily integrated with any type of detector, such as PIR-detectors or door/window switches that can open/close a contact.
If current carrying detectors are used, they need to be converted to a tension-less contact with a simple intermediate relay.
Velbus PIR detectors can also be used in the configuration. When the alarm is dis-armed, they function as a normal PIR, but when the alarm is armed, they act as an alarm detector, eliminating the need for many additional and dedicated alarm detectors.
There is no limit to the number of alarm detectors used, as long as they are tension-less contacts, and can be hooked up to a port of a VMB7IN module.
Each alarm detector/trigger can be used as a delayed or a direct detector, depending on its location.
The whole logic is handled within one single Velbus relay.
The delayed zones are set to 19 seconds, and the siren is set to last 2 minutes beyond the last alarm detection.
The alarm cannot be armed as long as active detectors are detecting an alarm situation, such as open windows or movement in direct detection areas.
Each alarm zone can be enabled or disabled by the user.
The flash stays on after an alarm detection until the user turns it off manually.
The system can monitor and trigger other events such as the working status of any appliance, water/flooding/frost situations, fire/smoke/gas/CO detection.
It can generate audio signals, as well as visual and email/sms warnings.
Any PC/tablet/smartphone can receive a graphical representation of the different monitoring detector statuses.
For the rest, the logic handles the alarm situations as they occur.
The top model is a single-phase energy meter, measuring only in one direction, with only one pulse output.
This means that we'll need two of them to be able to measure PV injection and consumption.
The left model is a bi-driectional 3-phase model with two pulse outputs, one for injection and the other one for consumption measuring.
One can combine several energy meters in a configuration, it all depends what we want to measure.
The pulse outputs are then connected to the Velbus VMB7IN module
The bridging of each pulse line on the VMB7IN is needed to increase the number of alarm triggers, but has no other reason.
Each color gives a visual indication of the energy status.
The color bar can be shown on on any of the sides, but we recommend to put it on the top side because then it will only very slightly influence the temperature sensor (which is located at the bottom-right side)
Furthermore, the control panels display the current energy information on the OLED screen (the current consumption/injection in W), depending on which situation is active at that moment. If additional counters (like solar panel production) are added, they can also be visualized.
The control panels contain an internal clock & thermostat, so that you can control heating or cooling systems if you add additional relay modules to control the HVAC system.
The Velbus control panels are usually installed in central places in your home (for example in the kitchen), so that you get a clear view of your consumption in the blink of an eye.
When switching on or off consumers, you see the color of the panels change instantly, so you know what influence the current situation will have on your bill.
If you have solar panels and you connect a heat generator to them (a heat pump, heat pump boiler, electric boiler or an accumulation heater), then you might be eligible to claim a premium for electric heat control for the energy management system you have installed.
Installations placed in Flanders (until 31 Dec 2024) are eligible up to 50% of the invoice amount of your control device, including VAT for residential buildings and excluding VAT for non-residential buildings, with a maximum premium of €400.
The Velbus Energy Management system is eligible for this premium if it has been installed by a certified installer. The following modules must at least be included in the system:
